Building Permits

Overview

Here you will find the required forms and other information related to building, demolition, and plumbing. Please remember that all construction on SAY Lands must comply with the current BC Building Code.  The building code ensures that buildings and structures are safe to use, and helps protect them from fire, water, and sewer damage in accordance with all SAY lands laws.

To apply for any of the following permits, please email the full package to cecilia.lockerby@saylandsoffice.ca or deliver to reception at 7256 Chilliwack River Road. Please note that only COMPLETE PACKAGES will be reviewed.

Demolition

Building demolition is the process of dismantling or removing an existing building structure along with the materials used in the construction of the property.

Complex building: buildings over 6000 sq. m., or over 3 stories or for public use or more than 4 in a row.

Form Definitions

  • Building Permit Application; Building permit application form is needed for all building permits being applied for.

  • Part #3 Standard Building Permit Checklist; This checklist applies to complex buildings.

  • Part #9 Standard Building Permit Checklist; This checklist applies to most building permit applications for housing and small buildings.

  • Plumbing Installations Contractors Certification: This form is required for plumbing works being done by a registered certified plumber other than a homeowner doing works on his / her own property, the certified T.Q (trade certificate red seal plumber certified in Canada) needs to complete all areas of the form.

  • SAY Lands Office form 1 and form 2; Form 1 Is to be completed by the landowner and or Tenant, form 2 is to be completed by the registered professional (engineer or architect) The name of the company the registered professional(s) are working under and the date.

  • Backflow device Test Report; To be completed for larger building applications building that have more than two residential suites ( to be used in interior building sprinkler systems and exterior landscaping irrigation.)

  • R value of Installed insulation; Provide form before occupancy to record the installation of insulation values for floors, walls and roofs.

  • Owners Undertaking;  Disclaimer that describes that the person or persons that are applying for a building permit acknowledge in following the current BC building Code and SAY lands Law's.

  • Occupancy Application;  This is a form used for a complex part #3 building to felicitate an earlier occupancy based on Fire, Life and Safety items are met to current BC Building Code and SAY Laws. Full occupancy can be granted when all requirements are met to the Building Official Authority having Jurisdiction.
